Gunman pleads guilty in deadly Martin shooting

MARTIN, Tenn. — A man charged in a deadly January shooting has entered a guilty plea, according to the Martin Police Department. Marcus L. Easley, 25, of Martin pleaded guilty Monday in Weakley County Circuit Court to a charge of second-degree murder and two counts of criminal attempt to commit second-degree murder, according to a release from the department. He is sentenced to serve 25 years in prison for the second-degree murder charge and two 12-year sentences for the criminal attempt to commit second-degree murder charges, the release states. The sentenced will be served concurrently. The shooting took place Jan. 5 at a Davis Street residence where Trista Canady, Corey Williams and Aquincy Dickson all had been shot. Easley was arrested the next day by Martin police. Canady and Dickson later recovered, but Williams later died at Vanderbilt Hospital as a result of his injuries, according to the release.
