GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A coach was arrested at a Tuesday youth sports event in Rutherford after allegedly attacking a referee. When police arrived at Rutherford City Park, the referee told them he had gotten into an argument with Coach Larry Ulmer. The referee said he warned Ulmer about using profane language and that Ulmer then attacked him, punching him in the head four times, according to a report from the Rutherford Police Department. Ulmer was arrested on an assault charge and taken to the Gibson County Jail. He was released Wednesday on a $2,000 bond.
