Man cited for loud music, cranks up volume again; is then arrested

JACKSON, Tenn. — A Jackson man was in court Thursday after playing his music too loudly — even more loudly than when police had told him to turn it down less than an hour earlier, according to court documents. Officers were dispatched just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to Holly Street in response to a disturbance between neighbors. Police say Wesley Wheeler’s music could be heard more than 50 feet from his house, in violation of the ordinance, according to a citation. Within an hour, officers returned to the residence where they say Wheeler had gone back inside and turned the music up even louder than when they issued the citation. Wheeler was arrested and charged with violation of the anti-noise ordinance.
