Jackson, Tenn. — Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett made a visit to several colleges today in West Tennessee in an effort to promote voter registration among students. “We’re celebrating voter’s registration month across the country and in Tennessee,” Hargett said. “We’re really trying to energize our young people, especially to engage in the process to become an educated consumer with their vote.” Lane College and Union University were just two of the colleges included in Thursday’s stops. Rather than having to venture out, students like Grant Edward Allen are happy the registration process happened on campus. “I love the fact that it’s on campus and that we can do this right now,” Allen said. “The convenience of it was really good. It was awesome, so I’m really glad that Union University has them on campus and that we can do this right here.” Hargett also visited Jackson State Community College. This is all part of an effort to promote voter registration at 17 Tennessee colleges.
