Citizens help officer take down woman allegedly armed with knife

SAVANNAH, Tenn. — Savannah Police say Kara Lawing has been arrested after making threats to harm herself and grabbed a butcher knife after the officer arrived on the scene. Authorities said the officer grabbed Lawing’s wrist and was able to take the knife away from her without anyone being injured. A woman on the scene helped by grabbing the other wrist and another citizen helped the officer take the woman to the ground. Police say no one was hurt during the incident. Lawing is charged with reckless endangerment with a weapon. Officers said a 16-year-old was also arrested on the scene, but released to her parents..
