Man accused of hitting ex-girlfriend with chair, punching her

JACKSON, Tenn. — A man was in city court Tuesday on accusations of attacking and beating his ex-girlfriend in May. According to court papers, Curtis Douglas Jr. approached the woman May 21 outside her North Hays Avenue home. As the woman tried to walk away, Douglas reportedly picked up a chair from the porch and struck her, causing injury to her neck, arm and shoulder, according to an affidavit. Douglas then allegedly punched the woman in the face, knocking her to the ground, and then held her down and punched her repeatedly, the document states. He then dragged her by the hair across a gravel driveway and also struck her in the back with a large rock, according to the affidavit. Douglas is charged with aggravated domestic assault.
