Police investigate fatal shooting of Tennessee hunter

ALTAMONT, Tenn. (AP) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating a fatal shooting involving a hunter in Grundy County.

Grundy County Sheriff Clint Shrum told WRCB-TV that deputies responded to a report of a hunting accident on Sunday and found 44-year-old Chad Killiam in a wooded area with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Shrum said a man with Killiam told deputies that the shooting was the result of a hunting accident, but “not all of the facts all up,” so he requested help from the TBI.

TBI spokesman Josh Devine told WTVC-TV that the agency is working with Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, and the 12th District Attorney General’s Office in the investigation.
