Officers escort Deputy Rosemary Vela to visitation site

JACKSON, Tenn. — Local, state and national law enforcement are gathering in Jackson to say goodbye to a Madison County deputy who lost her life in the line of duty. A procession of law enforcement and first responders escorted a hearse carrying the body of Rosemary Vela on Thursday from Crockett County to West Jackson Baptist Church. Vela died when her cruiser crashed on Highway 70 West in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Officers from across the country are expected for her visitation Thursday and funeral Friday.
