JACKSON, Tenn. — A man appeared Monday in city court accused of shooting a woman in the head at a Jackson apartment. Tyrone Montrell Echols is accused of firing three to five gunshots into a Tracewood Cove apartment around 3:40 a.m. Saturday, hitting a woman in the side of the head, according to an affidavit. Police say the woman was able to give them a description of the shooter matching Echols. She was transported to the emergency room at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital for treatment. Police say the incident began when a group of men came to the apartment and asked a man there to come outside, according to the affidavit. When the man refused, Echols is accused of pulling a revolver and opening fire. Echols is charged with attempted second-degree murder, use of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
