JACKSON, Tenn. — A man appeared Monday in city court on accusations of dousing his girlfriend in lighter fluid and trying to set her on fire. Tyrone Hill is charged with aggravated domestic assault in the Saturday incident that occurred at the woman’s Holly Ridge Drive residence, according to an affidavit. The woman called police around 4:20 a.m. and told them Hill had punched her in the face and told her he was going to kill her, the document states. She told police Hill then doused her shirt and pants with lighter fluid and tried to set her on fire. Court papers say the woman was able to take off the clothes and flee from the residence. When officers arrived, they found wet clothes that smelled of lighter fluid along with a nearly empty bottle of lighter fluid inside the residence, according to police.
