JACKSON– A local tattoo shop worked to make a permanent impression on the fight against cancer, one tattoo at a time, Thursday.
It was a special day for Heather Maze inside Hybrid Moments tattoo shop. “I am getting a cancer ribbon in honor of my mom and my aunt who have both survived breast cancer,” Maze said. It’s the symbol known around the world that represents breast cancer. Participating tattoo artist prepared several tattoos in support of breast cancer awareness to be used on Thursday. “We pre-drew 30 to 40 designs. They are all breast cancer related or some kind of cancer related,” Chad Newsom, owner of Hybrid Moments said. It was an idea organized by a group of friends and co-workers in the West Tennessee tattoo world. “We all just came together. We are not making any money off of this. This isn’t for us. This is all going to straight research and to help fight against cancer and it’s just really nice to do,” Noah Morris from Regicide said. With every dab of ink it was money going to the Kirkland Cancer Center. The artists are donating their fee to help fight the battles that some loved ones could not overcome. “The tattoo is something I can look at everyday and wont ever forget the struggle and the pain that I know they went through ,” Maze said. The artists even donated their tips to cancer research.
