Westview High School student charged with sexual battery

MARTIN, Tenn. — A Westview High School student was recently arrested and charged with sexual battery. Police confirm he was taken into custody earlier this month on accusations of sexually assaulting a female student inside an equipment room on campus. “When she tried to leave the room, he allegedly physically held her in the room and then attempted to raise her shirt,” said Capt. Phillip Fuqua with the Martin Police Department. Investigators say there’s video footage from outside the equipment room but that there was no camera inside. The Westview student was charged with sexual battery and false imprisonment and will have his first court date soon.
