Huntingdon’s ‘The Dixie’ hosts national movie premiere

HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — A Hollywood movie premiere Monday night brings one West Tennessee town into the company of New York and L.A. The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center in Huntingdon is screening the movie “Room.” The author of the book that inspired the movie, Katie Koestner, was able to select a city for a premiere showing, and she chose the Dixie after passing through Huntingdon and saying she felt a connection. “She loved the idea of it being in small-town America, and issues that the movie deals with happen in larger cities but it also happens in somewhere like Huntingdon, Tennessee,” said Lori Neal Nolen, executive director of the Dixie. The premiere is free and open to the public. However, the movie is rated R. “Room” opens nationwide on Nov. 6.
