Charges against Dyersburg police officer dismissed

OBION COUNTY, Tenn. — A judge has dismissed charges against a Dyersburg police investigator accused of stealing money from a Union City couple. Cara Elizabeth Johnson-Peckenpaugh was suspended in February and charged with identity theft under $500 after TBI investigators said she stole money from a Union City couple, electronically removing the funds to pay her electric bill. The charges were officially dismissed Nov. 2, according to the court. She had been charged with one felony and one misdemeanor. Peckenpaugh has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the results of an internal affairs investigation, according to court documents.
