Woman charged with stealing $1K in lotto tickets

JACKSON, Tenn. — A woman appeared Thursday in city court on accusations of stealing more than $1,000 worth of lottery tickets from a Jackson store. Latoya Roberson is charged with stealing $1,800 worth of Tennessee lottery tickets Nov. 2 from Columns Tobacco on Vann Drive after she distracted the clerk, according to an affidavit. The incident was recorded on security video, and the store manager told police he though he recognized the woman, later identified as Roberson, as an employee of a fast food restaurant. Police say she was later identified in the security video by another employee of the restaurant. Roberson is charged with theft over $1,000.
