Arrest made in fatal West Jackson robbery

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Police Department has named the suspect they say shot and killed a man during the attempted robbery of a West Jackson gas station late Wednesday night. According to court documents, athorities said Urshawn Eric Miller shot the victim in the back of the head and shot at another worker who was there at the time. Police said they found Miller after he fled the store in a wooded area at nearby Lions Field. That’s when investigators said Miller stated he wouldn’t go easy and threatened to kill officers involved. JPD deployed a canine unit, and after a struggle with Miller where authorities say he choked the dog, Miller was taken into custody. Court documents show Miller has been charged with first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, attempted especially aggravated robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and evading and resisting arrest in connection with the November 25 crime.
