Bullitt County teacher facing meth charge

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. (AP) – A Bullitt County teacher has been charged with possessing methamphetamine.

According to WHAS-TV, Bullitt Central High teacher Kristan Smith was arrested and charged Saturday morning.

Details of the arrest are unclear, but officials with the Bullitt County Detention Center say Smith was “signed out” later Saturday.

Bullitt County Public Schools attorney Eric Farris said Smith has been employed with the district since 2014. Before that, he said she spent seven years with Eminence Independent Schools.

He said the district conducts background checks and Smith had no prior criminal history as of June 2014.

Farris said the superintendent is investigating Smith’s case and will determine if additional action is needed.
