TBI seeks suspect in 1980 cold case
STEWART COUNTY, Tenn. — The TBI is asking for help in a cold case double homicide investigation out of Stewart County.
The bureau has released an artist’s sketch of the suspect. Officers believe he kidnapped Carla Atkins and Vickie Stout on Sept. 17 in 1980 as they walked to the store along State Route 79 in Dover.
Witnesses said he was in a blue truck. The women’s bodies were found three weeks later at Land Between the Lakes.
