Last-minute shoppers in full swing as Christmas draws near
JACKSON, Tenn. — It’s not just the roads that are busy this holiday season — so are the stores.
As the clock ticks toward Christmas Day, the rush intensifies for last-minute shoppers across the Hub City.
A Gallup poll estimates U.S. adults plan to spend $830 on average on Christmas gifts this year. That’s up sharply from the $720 a year ago.
With Christmas only three days away, streets and highways leading into shopping areas all around town have been packed with shoppers.
Most say they are just trying to finish up and be ready for the big day on Friday.
