Corinth officer helps mother give birth in a parking lot
CORINTH, Miss. (AP) – A Corinth police officer is being called a “baby doctor” by his fellow officers after he helped a woman give birth in a store parking lot.
Sgt. Ken Walker came to the aid of Karla White on Monday morning at about 4 a.m.
WTVA-TV reports that White and her mother were on their way to Magnolia Regional Health Center when they pulled over into a Kmart parking lot on the advice of a police dispatcher because White was about to give birth. The dispatcher advised them to wait for an ambulance.
That’s when Walker showed up on the scene and realized there was no time to wait. The officer then helped deliver the baby.
Henry Dalton Byrd was due on Jan. 7 and he is doing fine.
