Lane men prep for SIAC Tournament, lose starter to injury

JACKSON, Tenn — It’s tournament time for the Lane Dragons basketball team, but the Dragons will have to do their winning next week a little short handed.

The team announced Friday starting power-forward, Devontay Clark, will miss the rest of the season with an ACL injury.

The Dragons will play Albany State next Tuesday in the SIAC Tournament opening round.

Lane beat Albany State in the regular season by ten.

Coaches said the most important thing is keeping the team focused heading into tournament play.

“The game’s got to be played inside the 94 feet and we just got to be focused and hungry when we get down there,” Lane men’s head basketball coach, Bryanth Basemore explained. “It’s a matter of getting their confidence up and letting them know that this is a wide open tournament. We’ve all beaten each other throughout the year so it’s just who comes mentally prepared. Paying attention to detail and then it’s going to be small things: who can box out and rebound cut down on their turnovers.

Lane leaves for Birmingham on Sunday, and will play their first game Tuesday afternoon.
