Officials work to ID body discovered at Stewart County lake

DOVER, Tenn. (AP) – Officials are working to identify a body that was discovered washed up on the shore of Lake Barkley in Stewart County.

The Leaf-Chronicle reports the body was discovered Sunday morning by a person walking along the shoreline.

Stewart County Sheriff Deryk Wyatt says there’s no indication that the badly decomposed body is that of a local person, or that there was foul play.

He says the body was of a man, approximately 5 feet, 11 inches in height, who wore 32- to 34-waist pants and a size 13 shoe. No further information, like race or hair color, has been released.

Wyatt says information about the body has been sent out nationwide, and so far no law enforcement agencies have responded regarding a match of missing persons.
