Phi Delta Kappa celebrates heritage
Gamma Psi Chapter host annual Black History program
JACKSON, Tenn. — Sunday afternoon the Jackson community gathered to celebrate heritage and honor community leaders.
The sanctuary at Unity Temple Church was filled for the Gamma Psi chapter of Phi Delta Kappa Sorority’s annual Black History program.
Members of the youth choir performed, leading up to the keynote speaker, Lane College President Dr. Logan Hampton.
Program organizers say it is important to host this program to celebrate the past while remembering there is still a long way to go.
“To give appreciation to those who put their lives on the line in order for us to enjoy the privileges we have today,” said Gamma Psi chapter Dean of Pledges Rose Anderson. “And to have the opportunities that we have today.”
Five community leaders were honored at the program for their years of leadership in medicine, law enforcement, and service in the Jackson community.
