Capital murder suspect escapes Warren Co. Jail

VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) – The Warren County Sheriff’s Dept. is searching for an escaped inmate who is a suspect in a capital murder.

Sheriff Martin Pace tells multiple news outlets 33-year-old Rafael McCloud escaped from the county jail Wednesday around 5:30 a.m.

Pace says McCloud briefly took a jailer hostage with a makeshift weapon, and forced the jailer to give him his pants and jacket.

The sheriff says McCloud also took the jailer’s radio and keys. McCloud left through a side door. Authorities recovered the radio and keys on the grounds of the jail.

McCloud was last seen wearing the jailer’s green pants and a jail jacket.

Warren County deputies and Vicksburg Police and K9 units are searching for McCloud.

McCloud was being held in the death of 69-year-old Sharon Wilson.
