Jackson Chamber hosts Annual Celebration
JACKSON, Tenn. — Members of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce held their Annual Celebration Thursday afternoon at Union University.
“Obviously they’re having a good time here at lunch,” Jackson Chamber President and CEO Kyle Spurgeon said. “We are recognizing some of our strongest businesses and nonprofits in the community. But the mere fact of being able to get together to network with other businesses and nonprofits in the community, often times that leads to additional business.”
The STAR Center, Jackson Generals and Delta Electrical were just a few of this year’s top business winners.
With more than a thousand businesses committed to economic development, the Chamber’s celebration is a time for members to have fun and highlight thriving businesses in Jackson.
“It’s important to recognize the work that’s being done by industries, businesses and organizations across the city,” said Lisa Tillman, executive director of Regional Inter-Faith Association, the 2014 Nonprofit of the Year winner. “We have a great city, and it’s a great way to celebrate some of those places.”
Thursday’s celebration wasn’t just about honoring local business. The Jackson Chamber also thanked dedicated volunteers for their service to the community.
“It’s an incredibly humbling award to be given,” Volunteer of the Year Landon Preston said. “I love the work of the Chamber. I love this community. So it’s one of these things. It’s easy for me to do because I love this town and I love serving it.”
