State cites Jackson-Madison Co. School System in worker accident

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — The state has issued a citation for the Jackson-Madison County School System in an accident where a maintenance worker broke his ankle while on the job.

JMCSS TOSHA injury fineThe accident happened earlier this year when an employee fell from a ladder while working on the roof at Malesus Elementary.

The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration says the ladder was not secured and the school district did not provide a training program for employees using ladders.

The district must submit corrective measures to TOSHA by March 17.
