How to help Redemption Road Rescue & Companion Pet Rescue

DECATUR COUNTY, Tenn. — Local rescue operations recently took in 16 animals in Decatur County.

Decatur County animals rescuedOfficials say three horses and 13 dogs were surrendered to Redemption Road Rescue and Companion Pet Rescue after the owner could no longer take care of them.

Authorities say many of the animals were malnourished and dehydrated, but rescuers say they are doing well now.

The additional cost of caring for the animals is putting a strain on the rescue groups.

“It’s physically, financially and emotionally overwhelming sometimes, and we need the help from the people around us, from the neighbors, from the person that’s calling us to report the horse, from the community,” said Lori Collins, director of Redemption Road Rescue.

No charges were filed against the owner since he voluntarily surrendered the animals.
