Tennessee Athletics Hall of Fame announces new class
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Tennessee has selected 68 new members of its athletics Hall of Fame as part of its first class that includes male student-athletes as well as women.
The Tennessee Athletics Hall of Fame is a new coed version of the Lady Volunteer Hall of Fame that included 65 former Tennessee female student-athletes before this year. The 2016 induction class includes 68 men and three women, balancing out the gender distribution of the Hall of Fame membership.
This class features such notable former Tennessee athletes as Peyton Manning, Reggie White, Johnny Majors, Condredge Holloway, Al Wilson, Bernard King, Ernie Grunfeld, Kara Lawson and Allan Houston among others.
The class will be celebrated at Tennessee’s spring football game April 16 and will be part of a private induction ceremony that evening.
