Beekeeping short course introduces locals to beekeeping

JACKSON, Tenn. — Dozens of new beekeepers went to class to start their new hobby.

Screen Shot 2016-03-05 at 5.11.26 PMThe Jackson Area Beekeepers Association held their annual Beekeeping Short Course that allows people to learn how to start their own hives.

Classes Saturday included bee equipment, bee biology, maintaining bee health, and the benefits of keeping bees.

“This is to try and give them a foundation, a jumpstart, it’s a how much can we cram in your brain in one day to get you excited and and encouraged about beekeeping,” Vice President of JABA Diane Graves said.
