Newspaper, arts center partner to bring Army band to Ashland
ASHLAND, Ky. (AP) – The Daily Independent newspaper and the Paramount Arts Center have partnered to bring the U.S. Army Field Band & Soldiers’ Chorus to Ashland next month.
The Daily Independent reports the free concert is scheduled for April 3. This will be the first time in 40 years since the Army band has been in the city.
Norma Meek, executive director of the PAC, says the concert is a gift to the community from the arts center and the hometown newspaper.
Members of the Army band, which consists of a 69-piece orchestra and a 29-member choir, travel around the country and perform.
Tickets are available, but individuals are allowed only four apiece. Meek says no group tickets are available.
The band will play for 75 minutes with a 15-minute intermission.
