TEMA officials assess flooding damage in Martin


MARTIN, Tenn. — Flash flooding Saturday night had some businesses cleaning up Sunday.

TEMA was in Martin Sunday morning assessing flood damage in the area.

One family was evacuated Saturday night after water caused their basement to collapse, according to the Martin Fire Department.

Hunan’s Palace experienced around six inches of water outside their restaurant, as well as inches of water rushing into the restaurant, as well as other parts of the building off of University Street.

“It caused some deterioration to the booths and some deterior to the floor, so other than that major equipment did not lose any of that,” Owner Michael Day said.
