Sacred Heart soccer looking for a return to state tournament

JACKSON, Tenn — Just a few years into their boys soccer program, the Sacred Heart Knights took their team to new heights last season, making the state tournament for the first time ever.

Sacred Heart State RunNew heights means new expectations.

The Knights lost five starters from that state tournament team a year ago, meaning there will be plenty of new faces donning the maroon and gray on the pitch for Sacred Heart.

Their coach said even though this group may be younger, they aren’t feeling any pressure to perform from anybody but themselves.

“It’s just about trying to continue on what we did,” Sacred Heart boys soccer coach Chris Herrington said. “For me and for the players, your mentality is to take every game as it is so the most important game is tomorrow. We take each day as it comes. There’s no master plan. We just take it a day at a time.”

Sacred Heart opens their journey to a second-straight state tournament Wednesday when they head to Briarcrest for their season opener.
