Boys & Girls Club celebrates ‘Kick Butts Day’ to discourage smoking

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Boys & Girls Club of Jackson is making big strides to discourage youngsters from smoking.

Kick Butts DayIt’s called National Kick Butts Day. Kids gathered at Allenton Heights Wednesday afternoon to talk about the reasons you should never start smoking and why you should stop if you do.

According to the Kick Butts Day website, it’s expecting more than 1,000 events like this to take place across the country.

“It’s important that we teach these children not to utilize and use tobacco early on because the marketing companies target children when they’re school age, 6 to 9 years old,” program director Rachel Thomas said.
