Car tangled in power lines, driver trapped

MEDINA, Tenn. — First responders in Medina are attempting to rescue a woman after her car became tangled in electrical wires.

IMG_2905Officials say the accident happened on the corner of West Church Street and Second Street around 11:30 p.m. Friday night.

UPDATE: The woman was rescued after about two hours with no serious injuries.

A WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News crew on the scene witnessed the car suspended nearly 8 feet in the air with the driver still inside. They say the car is being held up by the guide wires for the telephone pole.

According to fire officials, they are waiting for the power company to cut the power from the lines before they can rescue the driver. They say she appears to be fine and has been able to communicate with them.
