Madison County leaders gather, discuss land transfer to state for future TBI Crime Lab
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn.-Members of the Madison County Commission’s legislative committee gathered Thursday afternoon and took a big step forward in the possible relocation of the TBI Crime Lab to Jackson.
The committee approved a resolution, allowing the mayor to transfer ownership of 10.5 acres of property at McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport to the state, specifically for building the crime lab. Mayor Jimmy Harris said a certain protocol must be followed for the project to move forward.
“Anytime the county sells or donates property, you have to have authorization by the county commission, same as with the city, the city council had to approve it,” said Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris.
Mayor Harris will officially authorize the land transfer at the county commission meeting on Monday.
