Accident involving moped, car leaves 1 dead

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A deadly accident Thursday in Henderson County involving a car and a moped leaves one dead and one injured.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol Lt. Brad Wilbanks, Jonathan Blankenship, 26, was traveling north on Timberlake Wildersville Road in his Volkswagen Passat when he entered the southbound travel lane where he hit 46-year-old Charles Cavera head-on.

Cavera was traveling southbound on his Honda Elite moped, according to officials.

Blankenship was wearing a seat belt and Cavera was wearing a helmet, officials say.

Authorities say Cavera died of his injuries and that Blankenship was injured.
