Traffic stop leads Jackson police on car chase

JACKSON, Tenn. — A routine traffic stop for a minor violation led Jackson Police on car chase Friday.

According to Lieutenant Gause with the Jackson Police Department, around 3:55 p.m. Friday, JPD pulled over a white Pontiac Grand Prix on North Royale and Lexington Street for a tint violation.

Officials say the officer spoke to the driver,  who is described as a black male in his mid thirties. His name has not yet been released.

The driver then sped off leading the JPD on a pursuit.

Police say the pursuit ended on East Chester and Cartmel Street in East Jackson.

The driver is charged with felony evading arrest and reckless endangerment. Other charges are pending, according to officials.
