DAR Field of Flags display goes up Saturday
JACKSON, Tenn.–Daughters of the American Revolution honor more than 150 soldiers Saturday.
At the annual Field of Flags ceremony, located in the park triangle of Downtown Jackson.
DAR members said they hope younger generations take advantage of exploring the outdoor exhibit and reading the names on display.
“I think when you read the names it makes you closer to those people,” DAR member Gwen McCaffrey-McReynolds said.
“They’re not just ‘oh they’re revolutionary war soldiers’ this is a person who fought so that we can celebrate today,” she said.
Eleven out of 13 colonies are represented in the display. The first two rows specifically commemorate soldiers from Madison County.
The Flags will remain up until early July.
