Jackson to sign sister pact with M’Bour, Senegal
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Jackson leaders are preparing to sign a “sister city” agreement with a city in the West African nation of Senegal.
Tuesday’s 4 p.m. event will unite Jackson and the city of M’bour (uhm-BOOR’).
A sister city relationship is designed to further economic development. It also opens avenues for educational and cultural exchanges.
The Clarion Ledger reports that Jackson Mayor Tony Yarber will take part in the signing. Among others attending will be a delegation from M’bour and representatives of the Mississippi Development Authority; the Mississippi World Trade Center; the International Museum of Muslim Cultures; Tougaloo College and Merit Health.
