Airline serving Hagerstown marks name and equipment changes
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) – One of the airlines serving Hagerstown Regional Airport is holding an event to highlight changes in its name and the type of aircraft it flies.
Southern Airways Express is holding the reception at the airport Tuesday evening. The Memphis, Tennessee-based, carrier is taking over routes flown by Sun Air Express, which Southern acquired in March.
Southern Airways Express offers daily flights to Pittsburgh International Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport.
Spokesman Mark Cestari told The Herald-Mail in March that Southern Airways would use Cessna planes that are roomier than the eight-seat Piper aircraft Sun Air flew.
Hagerstown is also served by Allegiant Air with seasonal flights to Florida destinations.
