Knox County woman pleads guilty to fatally shooting husband
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A Knox County woman has pleaded guilty to fatally shooting her husband in a fit of rage over a text message.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reports that 57-year-old Tammy Lynn Talford pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of voluntary manslaughter Monday.
As part of the plea, she also agreed to turn over the life insurance proceeds she collected in her husband’s death to his family.
The shooting occurred in April 2015. Talford admitted that she and her husband, 52-year-old Lawrence Talford, were arguing over a text message he sent to another woman. She says she later retrieved a gun and shot her husband.
Lawrence Talford was taken to a hospital where he died.
Tammy Talford was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
