The Department of Transportation says all three sections of the project will be paved at once. Funding for the road is provided by the state, and additional funds are still needed to complete the thoroughfare.

“Efforts are going to have to be put into it, but we want to make sure in the short order that we can look out here and see cars and asphalt and not just a couple of pretty bridges,” Commissioner of Transportation John Schroer said.

The entire project is expected to take about 10 years. Tennessee is a “pay as you go” state, so the project will be completed as the money comes in.
