Cincinnati man pleads guilty in Kentucky jail drug case
COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) – A Cincinnati man has pleaded guilty to conspiring to provide illegal drugs to a woman who fatally overdosed while in a northern Kentucky jail last year.
The U.S. attorney’s office says 41-year-old Michael Howard pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and morphine that resulted in death. The plea came Wednesday in federal court in Covington.
The prosecutor’s office says Howard admitted regularly selling heroin to co-defendant Kimberly Mullins during a four-month period in 2015, knowing Mullins could arrange to get the drugs to Jamie Green, who was in jail. Green was Mullins’ 25-year-old daughter.
The prosecutor’s office said in a news release that Howard also admitted supplying what he thought was heroin but actually contained fentanyl, a more powerful opiate, and morphine. Green took the drugs Sept. 5 and died of an overdose in the Kenton County jail.
Mullins pleaded guilty earlier this year.
