Ghostbuster Glow Slime

  • 1/4 Cup Liquid Starch
  • 1/4 Cup Elmer’s Glue
  • 2 Tablespoons Glow-In-The-Dark Pigment
  • 1 Bowl


I INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1:  Mix the liquid starch and glow-in-the-dark-pigment in a bowl. Add the Elmer’s glue and continue to mix.

STEP 2:  Remove the glow slime from the bowl, continue to mix the slime with your hands. Is the glow slime a solid or a liquid? Describe the glow slime using its observable properties.

STEP 3:  Hold the glow slime close to a bright light source, turn off the lights, and observe. Describe the glow slime using its observable properties.

EXPLANATION
The glow-in-the-dark pigment or phosphorescent pigment absorbs light and then re-emits it over a period of time causing the glow slime to “glow.” Go to www.hookedonscience.org for more experiments that might get you and your family “Hooked on Science.”
