Person of interest be questioned in Rankin Co. homicide

BRANDON, Miss. (AP) – Investigators are questioning a person of interest in the death of a wheelchair-bound Rankin County woman.

Undersheriff Raymond Duke says 51-yeaer-old Kimberly Rainer Schrader was found Wednesday slumped over in her mechanical chair in her living room by a neighbor at her home.

Once they had processed the scene, Duke told The Clarion-Ledger said a person of interest was developed, and he had been arrested on charges unrelated to the case. Duke said his identity is not yet being released in order to maintain the integrity of the case.

Authorities had determined early on that they believed the motive for the homicide to have been robbery, but have confirmed that among other things, money and jewelry were taken from the home.

The cause of Schrader’s death has not been released.
