Seabees help repair century-old Ocean Springs depot

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) – A century old building in Ocean Springs is getting some updates with help from military personnel.

The city’s historic train depot houses the Chamber of Commerce and a gift shop.

But the building has damage from rot and decay. WLOX-TV reports the city is working to fix the building up with the help of Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 27.

The Seabees are building a new wheelchair ramp and replacing rotted boards all around the building.

Lt. Matt Catanese says the volunteer work enhances the relationship between the city and the local Seabee base.
