TBI: Body found in Dollar General store fire in Martin

MARTIN, Tenn. — Investigators have found a body inside a Martin retail store after an early morning fire, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Authorities found a body inside the Dollar General on Regina Street after responding to the fire, according to the TBI.

The Martin Fire Department and the Martin Police Department responded to the fire just after 5:30 a.m., according to a release from the Martin Police Department.

Heavy smoke was coming from the business when crews arrived. The fire department reported the fire was under control at 6:30 a.m.

During the investigation, firefighters discovered an unidentified body inside the building, according to the release.

TBI agents are investigating the incident along with Tennessee Fire Investigation Services, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Martin Fire Department and the Martin Police Department.
