Police: Woman dies after driver crashes car into her home

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A Nashville man has been charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication after police say he crashed his car into a home, killing a sleeping woman.

The Tennessean reports (http://tnne.ws/2afc3Dc) 28-year-old Michael E. Harris was arrested on six felony charges following the crash early Monday that claimed the life of a woman believed to be the home’s owner.

Metro police spokeswoman Kris Mumford says the medical examiner is working to confirm the victim’s identity.

Authorities say Harris was driving his vehicle when he lost control of the car and crashed into the home, killing the woman inside.

Police say Harris and his passenger both fled the scene but were later captured.

Harris was convicted of DUI in June 2015. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney.
