New special agent in charge named for Memphis FBI
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – The FBI in Memphis has a new special agent in charge.
He is Michael Gavin, who was previously section chief of the Criminal Investigative Division’s National Covert Operations Section.
The FBI said in a news release that Gavin will assume his new role in Memphis in mid-August.
He became a special agent in 1995 and was first assigned to Las Vegas, where he investigated white-collar crime, violent crime and organized crime. He’s worked on investigations in the Criminal Investigative Division, International Operations Division and Inspection Division and has held leadership positions in Montgomery, Alabama; San Francisco; and Washington, D.C.
Gavin was a special agent with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation before joining the FBI.
