Police: Jackson man kills mother, stepfather
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Police say a 39-year-old man shot and killed his mother and stepfather at a retirement complex where he lived with his parents.
Jackson Police Department Cmdr. Tyree Jones says Jackie Patterson, 66, and his wife, Diana Patterson, 59, were both found shot in their apartment at Delhaven Manor, an apartment complex for retirees. Jackie Patterson was also stabbed.
Police say Devell Bingham, 39, was in custody in the shooting, according to The Clarion-Ledger.
Police Chief Lee Vance told WJTV-TV that police received a call around 10:13 a.m. from the shooter and that when officers arrived Bingham was inside the apartment.
Vance says Bingham’s parents may have been asking him to leave the apartment and that may have been a motive in the shooting.
